Jane Anne Sullivan + Noel Donovan:
The Mother/Daughter Co-Directors of Kid Stock, remembered growing up with
time and space to play, to imagine and to relish in the leisure of childhood.
They were each born into ready-made performance troops with six and seven
siblings respectively. They had childhoods far separated from the
technologically inundated lives of kids these days. As they grew further
into their quickly expanding family they realized that this concept of
“leisure” was missing more and more for the children of their
community. It became the goal of Kid Stock, then known as
“The Sunshine Band”, to give children room and permission to explore
their imaginations and to experience the creative outlet of performing for their
friends and family. There was an idea that things should not always be so
complicated, and that some old classic show tunes and dance moves might still
have some value to the ever evolving community.
